Hi! My name is Andrew O’Brien, Founder of The Mindblowing Coach, a business with a sole mission of boldly and authentically partnering with individuals and organizations in sustainably transcending whatever chronic stress or burnout is plaguing them so that they can live life with more meaning, purpose, energy, health & joy.
In addition to the offerings available for adults including virtual 1:1 life coaching services, individual workshops, and group workshops, The Mindblowing Coach also partners with organizations, both in person and virtually, that are looking to incorporate impactful health and wellbeing events through presentations, workshops, and classes for their employees that are specifically centered around the topic of stress and stress relief.
In 2022, I founded The Mindblowing Coach after years of my own struggles with and not knowing how to manage my stress and finally putting all the pieces of the science puzzle together to optimize my own brain health and ultimately live life without chronic stress and burnout. With 25 years of relevant experience, I also hold an MBA in HR Management, a BA in Communication, and am credentialed as a Professional Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation, National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, Board Certified Coach, and Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional.
Why coaching? To be honest I didn’t know this is where I’d end up, but I’m so glad I’m here now. I’ve spent most of my career working across different organizations in the HR field. I got into HR because I love helping people, it was that simple. And so, I became an experienced HR professional, earned my MBA in HR Management along with a SHRM-SCP certification, and climbed that HR ladder. But the more I worked in HR, the more I realized I couldn’t help people in the way that fueled my soul. And I learned that this was one of the main reasons that contributed to my feelings of increased stress and burnout. And that contributed to me developing very annoying and persistent physical stress symptoms, which got me feeling very down about myself, and life in general.
I’d say the first turning point for me was about 15 years ago, when I attended a workplace wellness conference that highlighted some science; it truly opened my eyes to a new and incredible awareness. And that was the start of my conscious path towards holistic learning, growth, and healing. The other turning point for me was the journey I started in 2020 and reaching the moment when I knew that HR wasn’t for me anymore, and then taking the steps to identify and act on what I found that would begin to fuel my soul: coaching.
I’ve reprogrammed my brain in ways that I never thought would’ve been possible, healed my physical stress symptoms, am now making decisions that are in alignment with who I am at the core, and feel the happiest I’ve felt in a very, very long time.
When I started my business, it was with a focus on working with gay men, because well, I knew what it was like to grow up and live as a gay man in a straight family, straight community, and straight society. It was almost like growing up as an alien in my own home. I’ve experienced that shame, I’ve experienced those fears, and I’ve experienced those feelings of confusion about how and where I could fit in, lack of confidence in myself, and inability to courageously lead with my heart. I always pleased others at my own expense, felt nonstop pressure to be perfect, and felt unworthy, lost, and stressed…all…the…time…
But I also know stress doesn't discriminate, and now focus on working with all stressed out adults. Why? Because I'm empathetic to how chronic stress impacts us all and know it's possible to live free from this debilitating condition.
I learned of my incredible power over the years. And put that into action. You can too. And I’m honored to be here with you to support you in your own journey forward.
